Modified Horizontal Head Dallas Display During Lead Left-turn Operation
This display offers the most cost effective way to convert existing Dallas displays to Flashing Yellow Arrow displays.
The software in the controller is upgraded to provide a flashing output to the overlap used to drive the permissive green indication in the Dallas display. The solid green lens in the 5-section Dallas display is then replaced by a yellow arrow LED display. This overlap must be inhibited (goes dark) whenever the protected left-turn phase is ON (green or yellow left-turn arrow). In addition, the conflict monitor must be capable of disabling red monitoring for the channel associated with the overlap, or the flash rate must be fast enough to keep the conflict monitor from failing when all overlap outputs go dark.
